Red Level rallied from an early deficit to secure an 3-0 win of Highland Home in a varsity volleyball game on Tuesday, September. 26.

The Lady Tigers improved to 7-8 overall by securing a 27-25, 25-21, 25-14 victory. Lady Flying Squadron fell to 4-8. Lady Flying Squadron fell to 4-8 overall.

“We experienced a difficult night on the pitch in Elba Monday night, but we returned with more focus and played more as a group. I’m very happy for my girls as they showed up and showed great energy today. They displayed a lot of character and resiliency after being beaten early in the set. We are slowly but surely developing a plan around this but we aren’t yet there but is expected to soon be,” RLS Head Coach Eric Schwartz said.

SET ONE

Highland Home took an early 3-1 lead in the first set, but back-to-back kills by Victoria Walker and Bailey Green reduced the deficit to 3-1. Marleigh Burkett extended the margin to 7-3 after an Ace. Green continued to expand the margin at the 9-7 mark however, Jaiden Tidwell increased the advantage to 13-8 after the kill. Kennedy Lord brought the score to 14-9 after the kill after which Red Level took its first lead following an 8-2 run. Walker was able to tie the game at 16-16, courtesy of a kill, but the attack made an mistake. A mistake by the Lady Flying Squadron reclaimed a lead of 23-18 after three aces from Burkett in a 7-1 run. Green equalized the score at 23-23. The Lady Tigers took set one in extras to take a 1-0 advantage.

SET TWO

The second set started just as the first set did in which Tidwell hit an ace to give the hosts an advantage of 3-1. The visitors capitalized on several errors made by the hosts, and extended the lead up to 10-4. Lord made a crucial kill during the match as Red Level roared back for a 13-12 advantage. Alyssa Lee scored an assist for an advantage of 15-14 before Lord scored 18-14 by hitting an Ace. Jiya Shepherd was able to bring Highland Home within two at 19-17. Tidwell made 2 kills in her team, the Lady Flying Squadron and kept the game going at 24-20 However, they Lady Tigers held on for an 2-0 advantage.

SET THREE

Kayden Lord has a pair of aces and Walker was able to secure a kill for an early lead of 7-0 going into the set’s third. Tidwell extended the lead to 7-4, but they Lady Tigers took control. Green had a kill for an 11-4 advantage as Lambert did the same feat to an 14-5 advantage. Walker scored an ace, and extended the advantage to double-digits when the point was 15-5. They Lady Flying Squadron were not defeated and came close to the mark at 18-13. Lambert was aced for an advantage of 23-13, and Kennedy Lord made it match point by securing the kill. Kayden Lord completed the sweep by scoring an Ace.

Red Level returns to the court on Monday, October. 3 for a home game against Greenville.
