  • The Mayor should be authorized to take action mayor to accept the Contract Agreement with Piedmont EMS. –

    • Piedmont EMS provides ambulance service throughout Jacksonville, Alabama. Northeast Alabama area, to include Jacksonville, Alabama. City of Jacksonville, and City of Jacksonville also provides ambulance service as well as EMS services, and also receives support and assistance through Piedmont EMS, and the parties are signing this Agreement to ensure Piedmont EMS’s services. Piedmont EMS in providing emergency assistance to Jacksonville, Alabama. City of Jacksonville independent of the Jacksonville Fire Department as well as in addition, to provide support and back up for to the Jacksonville Fire Department as well as its EMS ambulance and paramedic services. In exchange for these services offered through Piedmont EMS to the City and residents in Jacksonville, Alabama, City will pay Piedmont EMS the sum of $25,000.00 annually to be paid in the manner as follows:

      1. 1 October 2023 $7,000.00
      2. January 1st, 2024 $6,000.00
      3. April 1st 2024 $6,000.00
      4. July 1st January 2024 $6,000.00
      5. Each succeeding years for 5 (5) successive years.

      The duration of this Agreement is to run for 5 (5) years that begin on the 1st day of October 2023.

      Each party can terminate this Agreement within the receipt of ninety (90) days by written notice to the other. Any compensation that is not earned from the city for Piedmont EMS will be refunded to the City upon termination due to reasons or upon the voluntary termination of Piedmont EMS. Piedmont EMS pledges contracts and has agreed in conjunction with the City of Jacksonville, Alabama, that Piedmont EMS will provide emergency services and response as required from the city. In addition, standby services will be provided while Jacksonville Fire Department covers Jacksonville State University and Jacksonville High School events,and sports events, which include football games. Every Piedmont EMS call and service response times will be within an acceptable time frame, as per industry standards and best methods. Every Piedmont EMS ambulance will be equipped with at least 1 (1) medical professional. Piedmont EMS is required to have the full coverage of liability insurance in case of any injury, damage or death of persons or property that is damaged, with a minimum sum of 1 million dollars ($1,000,000.00) per incident.
