Andalusia Split in the opening two games, but fell in the second and fell 3-1 against Slocomb in an varsity volleyball match on the Thursday of September. 28.

SET ONE

Lainee Thomas scored two ace while Slocomb gained a 4-0 advantage in the opening set. Cape Merrell cut the deficit to 5-3 after an ace, before a 9-1 run by the opposition led to a 14-4 advantage. Annaleigh Fischer ended the run by securing a block. Mallory McGlamory earned two aces in the process. Andalusia reduced the deficit to 16-8. Arianna Knox increased the gap to 20-8 by scoring an ace and a block prior to Faith Brookshire took it to set the game at. In the end, the Lady Bulldogs stayed alive with an ace by Kamari Gay and they were unable to overcome the Lady Red Tops held on to lead 1-0 in the game.

SET TWO

Brookshire made it even at 2-2 after a kill, but Merrell stunned with a block to give her a 4-2 advantage. Knox scored an ace for 7-4 with an ace, however Taya Newton tied the match at 8-8 after a brutal kill. Two consecutive kills from Brookshire as well as Avery Havas gave the Lady Red Tops the lead of 10-9 however, it did not last for very long. McGlamory added Andalusia close to within five points at 12-7, but Havas hit a kill to give an 18-8 lead. Knox extended the score to 21-11 after a kill and then two aces from Brianna Toney as well as a kill from Newton witnessed The Lady Bulldogs slice the gap to 23-17. They Lady Red Tops regained momentum by scoring two of the last three points, giving them the lead of 2-1.

SET FOUR

The teams did not lead by more than two at the beginning of the set’s fourth. Aylana Santora scored the kill to take a lead of 7-5, but Newton took over by racking up two straight kills, and evened the score at 7-7. After Knox increased the lead by 11-8 Merrell added another block to cut the deficit down to 11-10. Slocomb was able to get assists from Knox and Brookshire to take a 15-12 advantage until Merrell was able to even the score at 15-15 by scoring an Ace. Newton provided Andalusia an advantage of 20-16 with two more kills, before they Lady Bulldogs increased their margin to 23-19. It was 23-19 for the Lady Red Tops rallied for an 23-23 draw when Newton added another kill. Knox began with a three-point hit from the hosts who dominated the game.

Andalusia will return to the action next Tuesday October. 3 with a home game against Opp.
