Commissioner Pate has a bachelor’s diploma in horticulture. It was earned in 1978 at the Auburn University’s College of Agriculture. His experience as an entrepreneur, farmer and as a former the mayor of a town in rural Alabama is a unique advantage in understanding the issues and opportunities that face Alabama’s agriculture industry.
