Anniston, AL –On Saturday on October 7th at 8 am, adventurers as well as trail runners are scheduled to meet at the picturesque Yahoo Lake in Anniston for an exciting race hosted by Lake Yahou 50k. The race promises to be an unforgettable adventure in the middle of nature and set against an impressive backdrop of newly-opened Lake Yahou, available for recreation since May 2022.

The race is offered in different distances that can accommodate many participants and makes it accessible to those who are new as well as experienced runners. The course itself is dirt single-track trails that aren’t technically difficult but with the natural obstacles of roots and rocks. This creates a thrilling but still a runner-friendly route.

Race Site: Race Location: 370 Lake Yahou Rd, Anniston, AL 36205

Race Distances:

50K: Three loops that loop, at an altitude of approximately 3000 feet. It also has an end-of-day cutoff of 10 hours.

10-Miles A loop that includes additional credit and an elevation of approximately 1,000 feet and a 4 hour cutoff.

— 5.5 Miles Half the distance one loop of around 551 feet elevation and a 3 hour cutoff.

Aid Stations:

Two aid stations that are fully stocked will be strategically located on the route. One will be located at the finish/start area The other will be on the other part of the hill at the opposite trailhead. It is approximately 3.8 miles from where the trailhead is.

Participants who sign-up by September 17th will be given an official T-shirt. Participants also have the option of choosing an asymmetrical female-style shirt. Remember that the size of the shirt cannot be guaranteed, therefore sizing larger is recommended to those who choose the feminine cut. The shirt for this year will be one with a long-sleeve design.

One of the main attractions of the race is the distinctive, hand-crafted medals presented to every finisher according to the distance they have signed up for. Furthermore the awards will be presented to the top three male and female winners across both distances.

The race will end with an energetic celebration of the finish line featuring music and food (including vegan alternatives) and drinks. It’s a time to relax and enjoy the achievement of having completed this difficult trail race.

To make it easier for participants Packet pickup is available from Mellow Mushroom in Oxford on the 6th of October 2022, between 4:00 pm until 7 midnight. Packet pickup on race day will also be available at the start location between 6:45 am and 7:45 a.m. for participants who are unable to be there on Friday.
