The Covington County Board of Education ratified the bidding process for a supplemental grocery bid. It also addressed four issues pertaining to personnel at a regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday on October. 3.
The board voted in favor of the bidding process for a supplementary grocery bid, which was paired along with Opp City Schools and Coffee County Schools for the regular school meals.
“This is something that we have not done for quite some time. Our main grocery bid is with Merchants from Clanton, Alabama, but there are certain products they no longer offer which we’re in desperate need of. A number of director of nutrition for children in our schools have moved to a supplemental bid the interim. This won’t replace everything we bid for by Merchants but will give us the chance to purchase items of good quality. Through partnering together with other schools districts, we’re hoping to receive reasonable prices. I think this is a great opportunity for us,” Director Shannon Driver said.
The board voted to approve the following personnel issues:
Resignations
- Terri Norris is a the bus conductor at Fleeta Junior High School retroactive until September. 22.
- Kelly Goolsby as bus driver at FJHS retroactive to September. 22
