Anniston, AL Anniston, AL Miya Marshall last saw in Anniston on July 30 2022. Anniston Police Department Anniston Police department was notified by her family members of her disappearance on September 8, 2022, and an investigation and report was launched. Through the investigation, there was no information that could help the police find Marshall.
On the 15th of May 2023 on May 15, 2023, the Anniston Police Department was dispatched to the 2600 Noble Street based on a report about the whereabouts in the area of remains from a human. On arrival, investigators were capable of locating an individual skull from a deceased human and found no other bones within the immediate vicinity. The skull was then sent to Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville, AL for possible identification and the cause of the death.
On September 10, 2023. On September 10, 2023, the Anniston Police Department issued the following press announcement:
“On May 15th, 2023 at around 4:45 p.m, Anniston Police investigators were summoned at the area of 2600 Noble St. about the discovery of a skull from a human. They searched the scene and did not uncover any additional bones.
The skull was discovered after a long-term investigation. was confirmed to be Miya Marshall through DNA analysis. Marshall was identified as missing in Anniston on the 8th of September 2022. Marshall was identified as a black woman 5’02” with 169 pounds and aged 26 in the event of her disappearance. The last time she was seen, she was on the streets of Anniston by a family member.
Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences, Huntsville, performed an examination of the skull. They found that Marshall’s cause of death was murder. There is no further information to be divulged at this time.
