“Dear Sir. President,

The crisis along the southern border is affecting all states. Due to your policies that encourage illegal immigration states are shouldering the burden of the decades-long increase in illegal border crossings as well as cartels’ coordinated trade of human and drug traffickers. States are at the forefront all hours of the day to deal with the consequences of this crisis. Shelters are overflowing and food pantries are empty and police forces stretched and aid workers are exhausted. Governors of the United States, we are asking you to give honest exact, precise, and complete details on the locations where migrants admitted to south-bound borders are relocated to America. United States, in addition to complete information on the timeframe for asylum claims, as well as qualification rates, as well as successful deportations. We request immediate information and frequently when the crisis in the border region persists.

Your administration cannot continue to ignore facts that are vital to the safety of our citizens and drain public resources. Since your election since taking office, there have been more than 5.8 million crossings that were illegal of Southern border. Furthermore to that, your Customs and Border Protection agency estimates 1.6 million border crossers have avoided arrest. In fact, illegal crossings of north-western border points have risen exponentially since your time in office, and in certain areas by as much as 850 percent. In the last two years, 244 individuals who were on the list of terrorists detained while trying to cross the southern border – a record. In the absence of transparency from your administration but we aren’t able to be sure of how many terrorists been able to escape capture and are roaming around across the nation. The administration has admitted under the oath of Congress that the cartels consider south-south border security as a key transportation route and are constantly exploiting it to traffic in narcotics and human trafficking. We cannot afford 100,000 deaths each year due to the fentanyl epidemic that is fueled by cartels who pour the deadly drugs into the communities. Nor is it able to tolerate the scourges of human trafficking, and the lasting scars it inflicts on the victims.

While we are committed to tackling these problems, States cannot afford to tackle a problem that is this large while the federal government remains in a slack eye. Analysts estimate that the annual total cost of illegal migration to our country at the United States at the federal as well as state and local levels is around $150.7 billion. States are obligated to provide educational, financial and medical assistance for those who are entering the nation illegally. This support is increasing in price due to record-breaking inflation as well as the unprecedented flow of immigrants into our states. The financial impact on states is staggering and our own hardworking citizens who carry the burden.

This isn’t an issue of partisanship. Democrat New York City Mayor Eric Adams stated, “This is not an exclusive New York City problem. This is a problem that affects the entire country. …. The funding for the influx of immigrants into New York City is] likely to be sourced from our schools’ programs. It’s coming through our roads. It’s coming from what we give to youngsters.” Our Governor, Democrat Maura Healey, governor of Massachusetts has declared the state of emergency because of the sheer number of immigrants in her state. She also said that the federal government’s poor management on immigration, calling it “a national crisis due to inaction.”

As we’ve stated numerous times, each state is now an unincorporated state.

Governors, we call to both your and the governor’s administration to provide immediate, accurate comprehensive data and details to the states regarding those who are traveling across the border illegally, to where they are moving to and what the federal government is doing in processing asylum applications and whether they have been successfully deported. Without this data, we are unable to meet our obligation to provide our communities with adequate services.
