WEDOWEE Jabari Williams’ one-yard score with 2.2 seconds left put Wellborn ahead. The Panthers defeated Randolph County 30-25 on the road in a crucial class 3A Region 4 game.
Wellborn increased to 5-2 after an unbeaten start. The team is now the team is 4-0 in regional play. They will play regional matches with Weaver on the road next week, and Saks at home on October. 27.
Randolph County (6-1) dropped to 3-1 in regional play. Dadeville defeated Wellborn on September. 22is 3-1 in regional play. The Panthers also beat Childersburg (2-2).
“The regional championship hasn’t been set as of yet” Wellborn coach Jeff Smith stated. “We still have two games to left to play.
“We knew that tonight would be a hard game. You can’t go down and take on Randolph County on their home field and then beat them. It takes all you’ve got.”
Williams has rushed 26 times to gain 231 yards with two scores. He also scored an 18-yard touchdown run. The player has 1,162 yards of total yardage and twelve touchdowns over seven matches.
JACKSONVILLE 58 14, Mufford 14:Jim Ogle completed 17 of 21 passes for 5 touchdowns and 335 yards as Jacksonville was 7-1 overall and went 4-1 in region play.
Their only loss came against the region rival Handley (7-1 7-1, 3-0). Handley plays regional matches in the coming weeks against Cleburne County and Munford over the next two weeks.
The Golden Eagles had scored 43 points or more in seven games this season. They also scored more than 51 in each of the previous five games.
Ky’dric Fischer caught six passes to gain the distance of 129 yards, which included an 63-yard touchdown catch. Damonte Sinclair nabbed five passes, totalling 122 yards, including touchdown catch at 25 and 51 yards.
Zae English snagged the ball for a touchdown of 44 yards and ran for 33 yards and the score. Tanaka Wilson also caught a 12-yard touchdown pass.
Piedmont 58, GLENCOE 12. in Class 3A’s Regional 6 play, Piedmont (3-4) scored its second win in a row while improving to 3-2 regional play.
The Bulldogs sit in fourth position in the standings, just in the fourth spot, behind Sylvania (5-0), Geraldine (4-1) and Hokes Bluff (4-1). Piedmont fell to Sylvania but still has Geraldine as well as Hokes Bluff in play for the next two weeks.
Trevor Pike led the way on Friday with 171 yards, and three touchdowns in four rushes. Dontavious Jordan posted 64 yards in eight carries along with scoring two times.
Glencoe started with a 12-0 lead. Brady Kitchens’ touchdown passes of 30 yards to Jayden Patton and seven yards to Colby Bishop, but scored the final 58 points beginning with Hayes Gun’s nine-yard score run. Gun also scored a touchdown run of 11 yards.
Pike’s touchdown runs spanned 47, 23 and 70 yards. Jordan’s touchdowns were for one and 34 yards.
The Piedmont’s Cole Wilson completed eight of 11 passes for 98 yards.
White PLAINS 41 CLEBURNE COUNTY 10The Wildcats had scored 34 without a response goals after trailing by 10-7 and were able to win two games in consecutive games in the same season for only the second time after the season began with a win against Ranburne as well as a forfeit by Donoho during the COVID season in 2020.
When the last occasion that White Plains (2-5) won two consecutive games on the field was in 2013, when the Wildcats ended their regular season with wins over Susan Moore 50-26 and Collinsville 36-0.
The Wildcats win against Talladega last week as well as Cleburne County the week before are the team’s first victories under the head coach’s first year. Blake Jennings.
Dylan Barksdale rushed for 255 yards and scored three touchdowns. He also recorded six tackles and an interception.
P.J. Calloway racked up 55 rush yards and scored one touchdown. Freshman Crew Martin hit on six of 10 passes to gain 70 yards. He also scored a touchdown pass of 49 yards for Rodney Perry.
Bryson Cheatwood scored an interception for a touchdown while Ty Roberts had three tackles and an interception.
“The children keep fighting and continue to do the things we tell them to do,” Jennings said. “That’s the only thing you could demand from them, to be competitive and hard-working and to want to beat them..
“It’s enjoyable to see them achieve some success and gain some confidence in themselves.”
JAZ CHRISTIAN 46, CORNERSTONE 7:The Thunder finished the regular season with an 8-0 record and will host an opponent for the playoffs to be decided in two weeks.
Noah Lee completed seven of 10 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. One for Jesse Gannaway and another to Caleb Stallings. Lee also ran to score a touchdown.
Travis Barnhill carried 14 time for 133 yards, three touchdowns. He also recorded 11 tackles.
Gannaway received the ball five times for 89 yards and Stallings one catch was 70 yards to score. Stallings also ran for 33 yards, and he also had nine tackles.
Bryson Dowdey scored a catch of 20 yards, Moses Averette had eight tackles with four sacks, and two losses in tackles. Nick Brodeur had six tackles with two losses and Deon Dupree scored a tackle.
