The six teams from county football will face regional rivals this week as the close of the regular season in 2023 is getting closer.
Andalusia and. B.T. Washington
Andalusia (8-0 5-1 4A 2 Region) will play B.T. Washington (5-2 4-1) and hopes to remain unbeaten in an important region matchup in the final home regular season game.
The game will be the fourth time the two teams since they first met during the 1998 season. The Bulldogs have a lead of 2-1 in the match with the Golden Eagles.
Andalusia will be playing following a 42-6 victory against Slocomb this past week. B.T. Washington eliminated Montgomery Academy at home courtesy of a shutout 52-0.
The Bulldogs traveled to Tuskegee and scored victory by 36-14 against Tuskegee’s Golden Eagles in 2022.
Florala vs. Elba
Florala (6-1 1A 2 Region 4-1) is looking to secure its sixth consecutive win when it takes on the visit of Elba (7-0 5-1) in a regional battle with a lot on the line between the two teams.
Both teams are set to square each other for the 34th time in a contest which was first played in 1926. The Tigers have a lead of 17-14-2 in the series over the Wildcats.
Florala kept going to win by 36-34 at McKenzie the previous week. Elba was able to secure a 38-6 home victory over Georgiana in a match that featured the two teams that have never lost playing in the region.
The Tigers recorded a win of 55-27 against the Wildcats at home last season.
Opp for a spot at Houston Academy
Opp (3-4 3, 3-3 3A 2 Region) will travel for the third time to Dothan this year for an important regional game against Houston Academy (6-1, 4-1).
The two teams play on the field for the eighth time, and they have played each year since the start of 2016. The Bobcats are leading 5-2 on the road, however the Raiders have avenged a three-game slide last season.
Opp was back on track last week, defeating Daleville at home with a score of 33-14. Houston Academy also enjoyed home victory and defeated Northside Methodist, 42-7.

Pleasant Home vs. Brantley
Pleasant Home (1-6, 0-5 1A Region 2) will play its last home game of the regular season, and will take on Brantley (3-4 3-4, 3-3)) this week for a regional game.
The two teams face against each other for the second consecutive season following their first time taking the field in 2000. The Bulldogs have the upper hand in the game against the Eagles with a dominating 22-1 record.
Pleasant Home fell at Houston County last time out at 35-7. Brantley went off the last week and took the field just two weeks ago when they suffered an loss against Georgiana 26-0.
The Bulldogs won 55-13 in a game at home with the Eagles last year.
Red Level vs. Georgiana
Red Level (2-5, 2-4 1A Region 2) will hope to get the same success as last year and face Georgiana (6-2 5-1) in an at-home region match.
This year’s match could be the 59th match of the two sides since. The Panthers are leading by 40-17-1 in the series against the Tigers.
Red Level ended a four-game slide with a win of 31-29 against Kinston this week. Georgiana had its winning streak come to an end with an embarrassing 38-6 loss to Elba.
The Tigers defeated the Panthers at home last season, with 13-12 at the end of the game.
Straughn Vs. Northside Methodist
Straughn (6-1, 5-5 3A Region 2) will kick off an eight-game home stretch in the region and face Northside Methodist (2-5, 1 – 4) in the annual homecoming game.
The queen of 2024’s homecoming and the court of her will be formally announced beginning around 6:20 p.m.
It will be only the second time that the two teams have faced against each other. The Tigers hold a 1-0 advantage over the Knights following their first meeting on the gridiron in 2012.
Straughn went across the state to New Brockton last week and scored a win of 41-12 in its final road game of the regular season this season. Northside Methodist was not as lucky on the road, and lost a 42-7 game against Houston Academy.
The Tigers recorded a road win of 44-14 victory against Dothan Knights in Dothan during the 2022 season.
