Washington D.C. –In an act of unity to Israelis, and in solidarity Israeli population, U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined the group of Republican senators at a news event hosted by Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) to denounce Hamas the recent spate of violent attacks on Israel. Senators spoke out in unambiguous solidarity with the Israeli people in their response to these threats with overwhelming force.
Since the beginning of Hamas attacks on October 7 More over 1,400 Israelis have been killed and hundreds of people including a shocking many children have also been held hostage by Hamas. Furthermore, the terror attacks have killed more than thirty American citizens, and thirteen more reported to be missing.
The press conference was attended by senators Katie Britt and Senator Marsha Blackburn, along with numerous other prominent Republican senators such as Senate Minority Whip John Thune (R-S.Dak. ) and Senators Steve Daines (R-Mont. ), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Roger Marshall (R-Kans. ), Ted Budd (R-N.C.) as well as Pete Ricketts (R-Nebr. ).
Senator Britt took this opportunity to share her views on the issue, praising senator Blackburn for her quick and efficient leadership in dealing with the issue. She emphasized the seriousness of the situation, describing it as “pure evil” regardless of who you are as a parent or an American or just being a human being. Senator Collins emphasized the need to America to United States to confront evil and join hands with Israel in their efforts to eradicate Hamas terrorists.
The horrific aspects of the war which included child soldiers as human shields were highlighted by Senator Britt in her speech, urging people who haven’t been witness to it to view the shocking footage and hear the reports of reporters who witnessed the aftermath of the atrocities.
In her remarks in her remarks, Senator Britt called for more decisive actions by Biden Administration. Biden Administration beyond merely freezing the $6 billion that is headed towards Iran. She highlighted the importance of taking all financial resources that could get to Iran and collaborating together with G7 partners to establish an attitude that is “maximum pressure” via bone-snapping sanctions to block the flow of funds to Iran.
Iran is the world’s biggest state sponsor of terror, has stated its intention to completely erase Israel from the world map. Senator Britt highlighted the importance of the leadership to ensure that the world holds Iran accountable, while acknowledging the serious threats it presents.
In her closing remarks the speech, Senator Britt declared her support for the American people as well as those who suffer in Israel. She assured that she would make every effort to ensure the security and well-being for the Israeli people, while the people responsible for the crimes to account.
The senator’s position is in line with her previous initiatives and includes signing the Senate’s letter authored by senator Blackburn to ask to the Biden Administration to re-freeze the $6 billion payment for Iran under a hostage exchange deal. Senator Britt has frequently expressed concern that these agreements could encourage hostage taking in the future.
Furthermore senators have also written letters to her colleagues addressing various elements related to U.S. policy regarding Iran and its possible impact on security in the region. Her trip to Israel earlier in the year offered an insider’s view of the dangers that terrorists backed by Iran and the complicated situation that exists in the region.
