Anniston, AL – On Thursday, October 26 2023, from 12:00 pm until 12:30 in the evening, Anniston Museums and Gardens invites all nature lovers and birdwatchers in the future to attend an educational event that dives into the intriguing nature of Alabama’s birdlife. This is one of a number of activities celebrating “The year of the Alabama bird” according to the Alabama Tourism Department.
This informative session will offer useful information for new and experienced birders. It will also highlight the advantages of eBird the world-renowned bird tracking and observation program. Participants will learn the ways eBird allows birders to explore the intricacies of Alabama’s many bird species, that number more than 425. They will also learn what their contributions to the program can benefit researchers as well as conservationists.
Eric Soehren, an ecologist and manager for the Wehle Land Conservation Center in Midway, Alabama, will lead the program. Eric isn’t just an authority in the field, but is also involved in various conservation groups such as those of the Alabama Ornithological Society and the Inland Bird Banding Association.
