Oxford, AL – The rough landscape that Alabama’s roads, back roads, and trails for mountain bikes are not unfamiliar to adventurers and outdoor enthusiasts however, to Walt Brittain, Executive Director of the Alabama Cycling Association (ACA) the landscape is set to be the backdrop for an epic ride for an important cause. On October 22, Walt will embark on “Walt’s Wild Ride,” a breathtaking 1,000+ mile mountain biking trip that aims to raise money and getting corporate sponsors to the ACA’s programs as well as its scholarship fund.
Walt’s mission is more than an adventure. It’s an unwavering dedication to the young people of Alabama and Oxford High School’s mountain cycling team. The team is part of the Alabama Cycling League, a youth development organisation that strives for a new definition of what young sports program can accomplish. Their goal is simple that they want to get more children riding bikes, offer instruction and build the bond of friendship between students who enjoy mountain biking. With their work, they assist students in high and middle school improve their competitive and non-competitive mountain biking skills in a secure and fun manner.
The ACA’s dedication to youth development doesn’t end on the trails. They also operate their own ACA Scholarship Fund that gives young riders the chance to pursue their love of mountain biking.
