Calhoun County, AL On Wednesday, 25 October 2023 at around 10:40 a.m at which time the Calhoun County Sheriffs Office received an inquiry about shootings that could be taking place in on the 400 block Old Sulphur Springs Road in Wellington. When they arrived, officers found the body of a man who died due to a gunshot wound on the chest.

Investigators learned that the victim of the shooting, Thomas Farmer, 47 who lives in Wellington was in his residence when he heard shots fired in the woods surrounding his home. Farmer ventured to the area from which the shots were fired and came in contact with the owner (name not revealed because of an investigation) of the property adjacent to it. Near the landowner was a the dog of Farmers who had been killed by the landowner. Farmer and the landowner had a heated argument which led to the landowner firing a shot into his chest Farmer and killing him.

Lieutenant. Falon Hurst of the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office advised that there are no arrests taken at the moment, but the investigation continues and, once it is completed, it will be handed over to the District Attorney’s Office.
