Andalusia played Montgomery Catholic in a face-off to win the region 2 title. And, as the previous year It was the Knights taking the win with a score of 27-14.

The loss lowers to the Bulldogs at 9-1 and 6-1 in the region.

The Bulldogs began strong in the opening quarter, but it wasn’t until after recovering the Montgomery Catholic mistake when Jack Lathrop connected with Kal Crittenden to score a 56-yard touchdown catch. A two-point conversion provided an Bulldogs an 8-0 lead after 4:32 in the opening quarter.

The defense would take over for the rest of the first quarter as Andalusia kept its advantage.

Catholic started to get going with its offense in the second quarter with its first touchdown with a 59-yard run around 10.20 minutes into the 3rd quarter. The attempt to convert two points was unsuccessful.

In their next game in the next game, the Knights struck the end zone just one yard away and the additional point gave the Knights their first lead of 13-8 at 4:57 remaining in the third quarter.

Catholic increased its lead in the fourth quarter with the touchdown of 10 yards, leading to 20-8 at 10:13 in the game. The Cardinals it would score another touchdown at 7:45 to make it ahead 27-8.

Andalusia was on the scoreboard in their final goal of the match. J’Marion Burnette pushed the ball to the 1-yard line at 3:59 to go, and set an end-of-game score of 27-14.

“We were unable to capitalize on opportunities early in the game. It’s a bit scary to have that many points left on the field but fail to score. We’ll regroup and start prepping ahead of the game that is coming up.” stated Andalusia the Head Coach Trent Taylor.

Jack Lathrop went 7-of-24 for 144 yards and a touchdown. He also was able to throw two interceptions.

Burnette ran her ball on 22 occasions to gain 80 yards and scored a touchdown. Zerrick Jones ran three times with 15 yards.

Kal Crittenden paced the receiving group with three catches, totalling an average of 69 yards as well as the 56-yard touchdown. Calvin Daniels had two catches that totaled 19 yards. Tyler Sigers added one catch for 39 yards. Parker Adams caught a ball for 9 yards.

The defensive star was Zade Newton who recorded five tackles and one loss-making tackle 2 assists, a pass deflection, and forced to Fumble.
