Anniston, AL – As frigid temperatures are looming ahead The City of Anniston is asking its citizens to be secure and prepared for the frigid weather that is expected this week. In anticipation of the predicted weather the city has set up a warming station for the public. It will be available on The Bridge, located within Anniston First United Methodist Church located at 1400 Noble Street, Anniston, AL 36201. It will be operational from 5:00 pm in the evenings and until 8:00 am the next mornings, beginning on October 31 2023 through Friday November 3, 2023. It’s important to remember that the time of opening for the shelter will be changed to 6:00 pm on Wednesday 1st November 2023.

This warming station is scheduled to go into operation when temperatures are anticipated to fall down to 36 degrees F or less. Additionally, the station will consider a variety of extreme weather conditions, like rain, in order to ensure the safety and security of those who depend on it.

This program is possible by the cooperation of the Anniston City Council’s Community Task Force on Homelessness that is headed by United Way of East Central Alabama and that includes collaborations that include Anniston First United Methodist Church, Interfaith Ministries of Calhoun County, MeMe’s Heart, and His Hands and Feet Ministries.
