The Coffee County man has entered an guilty plea and has been sentenced to twenty years of prison for the shooting of an Opp man.
Joey Grissett, 50, from Coffee Springs pled guilty to the murder of Ricky Brown on Wednesday in the Coffee County courtroom.
Brown’s body was discovered inside the burning vehicle along County Road 663 just near the Coffeeand Geneva County line in March of 2019. The authorities declare that Grissett ran away to Jacksonville, Florida after the incident. He was carrying a significant sum of money as well as his passport.
Grissett visited one of the terminals in Jacksonville and sat down with an officer at security and said there was a body in his residence, as per police.
In the plea agreement that he signed on Wednesday, Grissett will be given the benefit of time served which amounts to close to 5 years in prison time. He will be serving the rest of his sentence of 20 years in the state penitentiary.
