- Juneau School District Juneau School District finished the financial year last with a $200,000 deficit within its operating funds. This is according to an audit that was presented by the board of school Tuesday. This autumn has increased the deficit to more than $3 million.
- Very few people in Juneau have heard of Jimmy Manning. For the majority of the past century, Manning was the town’s most well-known athlete. in the 60s a new set of baseball fields at Savikko Park were named after the player. Then, as time passed, those signs were removed. The Douglas Indian Association is working with the city in order to bring Douglas’ name to the baseball field.
