Piedmont, AL – A crash occurred within Piedmont on Saturday afternoon when the group of motorcycles travelling together had a mishap. The incident occurred when one of the motorcycles came to abrupt stop, which caused the chain reaction which resulted in one of the riders being knocked over the bars of the bike.
The driver sustained a serious head injury during the aftermath of the accident and was airlifted immediately from the scene, within the lot that is the Piedmont Police Department, for immediate medical care.
The patient was transported by air to the UAB Medical Center’s Trauma Unit in Birmingham. Piedmont Police Chief Nathan Johnson confirmed that the person riding was an occupant of Gadsden.
The causes of the sudden stop, and subsequent accident are being investigated Further information will be released as soon as they are made available.
