Jacksonville, AL –In an incredibly tragic incident earlier this morning, around 8:36 a.m. tragedy struck when an Jacksonville State University (JSU) student was struck by a car as he crossed the junction of Alabama Highways 21 and 204. The first responders from JSU and the surrounding area were swift in arriving on the scene within just a few minutes after receiving the emergency phone call.
The injured person was quickly transferred for treatment at Anniston Regional Medical Center (RMC) with injuries that were not life-threatening and is currently receiving additional medical evaluation and treatment. Being close to the first responders was undoubtedly a key factor in the rapid and efficient assistance to the injured. The driver in the accident, who was identified as an JSU student, showed the right behavior by remaining on the scene of the incident.
The Jacksonville Police Department, in partnership with the police at the university, is responsible for an investigation of the causes of the incident. The preliminary findings suggest drivers distracted by their driving wasn’t a major to the tragic incident.
As the investigation progresses further information will be made public to clarify what transpired that led to the accident. Authorities will conduct an extensive investigation to find the cause of the accident and any the contributing elements.
