Governor Ivey acknowledged the Gordon’s outstanding leadership she has selected Alabama indigenous Brigadier General David Pritchett as the successor to head the Alabama National Guard.

General Gordon was appointed commander in the year 2017 following Governor Ivey’s appoint, contributing to Alabama’s reputation as a strong military base. The time she served was characterized by accomplishments including securing landings of F-35 Fighter Jets, providing security along the Southern Border, and responding swiftly when there was a emergency. General Pritchett is scheduled to go into effective on January 1 2024. The ceremony to officially change of command set for the 5th of January 2024. General Pritchett is was an Auburn University graduate, holds an undergraduate bachelor of Science degree in Public Administration and an advanced degree in Strategic Studies from the U.S. Army War College.
