Jacksonville, AL – The Jacksonville State Gamecocks are poised to be the first in history when they prepare for their first bowl match on the Football Bowl Championship Subdivision (FBS) this autumn. After seamlessly transitioning to an FBS this season The Gamecocks have been able to secure an invitation to the highly coveted R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl to face with the Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns. The highly anticipated matchup is scheduled for Saturday 16 December at the legendary Caesars Superdome in New Orleans and kickoff is scheduled for 15:00 p.m. CT.

This is a major milestone in the history of Jacksonville State, as they have become one of the teams since 1997 who compete in a bowl match in their first FBS season. The impressive results this season, with an 8-4 record and an overall 6-6-2 Conference USA standing, also makes them an elite group. They’re only 8th team in the history of FBS to score more than eight victories during their first FBS season.

The Gamecocks’ opponents The La. Ragin’ Cajuns take on the game with a 6-6 performance (3-5 Sun Belt Conference). This is the seventh time the Ragin’ Cajuns in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl in which they’ve won five times and established their status as a formidable force during the playoffs.

The game is expected to have historic significant significance to both sides. It is only the second time that they have met Jacksonville State and Louisiana on the gridiron. Their last meeting was in 2000 and the Gamecocks triumphing with a win of 28-14.

Fans who want to be part of this historic game can reserve their places by purchasing tickets at the Jax State Ticket Office. Prices range from $60 for all other sections along the sideline, up to $80 for sections at midfield in front of the gamecocks’ bench providing a range of options for fans. All seats in those in the Jax State allotment will be reserved chairsback seats.

In addition, Jacksonville State is organizing special bus trips for fans at just $135 for each person.
