The Andalusia Bulldogs posted a comeback victory against Highland Home on Friday night 56-52.

Tyler Siger sparked the Bulldog offense with 17 points in the last period to erase an eight-point deficit.

There was no scoring in the first half because Andalusia had an early advantage of 8-7 within one minute. C.J. Likely as well as Xavier Housel each hit buckets in the opening quarter, and Tyler Siger and Tevin Siger each contributing 3 free-throws.

In the second half during the second period, the Bulldogs maintained a slight advantage thanks to two three-pointers – one shot by Noah Curry and another by Leeton Smith. They also scored four points scored by Housel. By the end of the second quarter, Andalusia was holding a three-point advantage 21-18.

The Bulldog’s lead was wiped out during the third quarter when Highland Home went out in a blazer and dominated Andalusia 21-9 to gain an advantage of nine points into the fourth period, 39-30.

Highland Home kept Andalusia at the distance for much of the fourth quarter, holding an eight-point advantage with just 3:17 remaining. A three-pointer from Tyler Siger just inside of the third minute cut into that Flying Squadron’s edge. It also brought the Bulldog offense rolling. In the final minute, 1:56 was left and the Bulldogs kept the game tied at 47-47.

Game was tied 50-50 with just 1:11 left remaining. A couple of free throws from Tyler Siger and Cadariyus Love could win by four points by the Bulldogs.

Tyler Siger led the Bulldogs with 25 points. Tevin Siger scored nine points. Likely ended the game with six points.

Andalusia (1-0) is scheduled to travel on Thursday, December. 7 for The Georgiana Christmas Tournament where they are scheduled to play Greenville in the 5th round at 5:30 p.m.

Lady Bulldogs

The Andalusia Lady Bulldogs were trying to stage a major victory late in the game to beat Highland Home, but their slow start to the offense was too much to beat, and they lost against Lady Squadron, 42-37. Lady Squadron, 42-37.

Highland Home came out strong and quickly took an advantage of against the Lady Bulldogs, 21-4.

Things began to level in the second quarter and Andalusia enjoyed a strong free-throw shooting, securing seven times in the game. Then, at the end of the first quarter, The Lady Bulldogs were looking at the prospect of a steep climb, and down into Highland Home thirty-one points.

The home team started to gain momentum after halftime scoring more than their Lady Squadron 12-8. Kionni Wright was the leader of the way, scoring six points during the second half, with Jaidyn Berry scoring four points. Following the third quarter, it was the Lady Bulldogs were still down 38-23.

The girls saved their best period — offensively and defensively to the final minutes. Again led by Wright with scoring assistance from Kamari Gay Kamari Gay, the Lady Bulldogs scored 14 points in the final stretch, while holding Highland Home to only four in the closing period. The clock was running out in the comeback, leaving Highland Home losing to the Lady Bulldogs on the short side of a score of 42-37.

The top scorer for on the Lady Bulldogs was Wright who scored 18 points. Gay was able to finish the night with 8 points. Berry scored four points. Kelsie Horwath added two points.

The Lady Bulldogs (0-1) will be part of the Georgiana Christmas Tournament with the first game set for Thursday, December. 7 3:00 p.m. against Greenville.
