Andalusia High School is scheduled to host the site for Richard Robertson’s annual Andalusia Christmas Tournament scheduled on Wednesday, Dec. 13 through Saturday December. 16.
The event will be the longest-running basketball event across the entire state of Alabama it will feature the total of 10 teams of boys playing in a single-elimination style. The local county team Andalusia, Opp, Red Level and Straughn are the four teams that will compete in the field. Enterprise Hillcrest-Evergreen Georgiana, McKenzie, Monroe County and Park Crossing are other six teams.
“This is an annual ritual for the students at Andalusia High School for several years. We are honored to have nine teams join our Bulldogs to participate in this historic event. We would like to invite our fans and community to attend and demonstrate their love to their team of choice. We are grateful to all teams who will be part of this legendary tournament.” AHS Head Coach Marcus Mickles stated.
The tournament starts with two first-round matches on the Wednesday of December. 13. Hillcrest will face McKenzie in the opening game starting at 4:00 p.m. The second game will be played at 5:30 p.m. Straughn will play to face Monroe County at 5:30 p.m.
There are four games to be to be played in the first day of competition on the. 14. Opp will take on the winner of Straughn as well as Monroe County at 3:30 p.m. Georgiana will take on the winner of Hillcrest as well as McKenzie in the 5th round at p.m. Park Crossing and Enterprise will meet in the 6 p.m. Then comes Andalusia as well as Red Level in the final first round game starting beginning at 8:30 p.m.
The third day will include the following games: 3 p.m. 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. for Friday December. 15. Three games will be played on Dec. 16 on a Saturday. 16 beginning at 4:00 p.m. at 6 p.m. and the championship game will begin at 7.30 p.m.
Hillcrest beat Red Level for the tournament title in 2022.
The admission fee is $8 per person Tickets will be sold at the gate.
