The Eaglecrest Ski Area in Juneau has been delayed yet again following this week’s heavy rainfall and hot temperatures.


The previous year, the ski slope was opened for the first time in December. 3. However, this month’s weather has prevented this from happening.


Eaglecrest Manager Dave Scanlan said on Thursday that temperatures could fall low enough this weekend to permit snowmaking machines.


Its style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”We’re still waiting for the perfect combination of snowmaking temperatures to start the lifts spinning to start the time of the year,” He said.


Scanlan said there’s just a little bit of a snow-covered base to allow snowshoeing and hiking. He hopes the area will be able to start operating its Porcupine lift before Wednesday.
