Vail Valley Foundation’s Vilar Performing Arts Center in Beaver Creek recently announced that Cameron Morgan, an Andalusia native, and former student of Andalusia Ballet School, is set to be serving as the center’s the new director of operations. The role at the famous 535-seat theater was taken over by Owen Hutchinson since January of 2021. Hutchinson is now set to become the Artistic Director of the venue.

“I’m delighted to be able to assume this role and build on the momentum Owen and his team, including our patrons and our supporters have helped build throughout the 25th anniversary year and into the future,” Morgan said. “What is most exciting to me most about VPAC is the feeling that people are able to experience when they arrive there as well as the sensation they feel as they enter the doors, no matter if they’re sitting at the top of the balcony, or at the apex. It’s a truly memorable experience and I’m excited to being part of that experience and that special moment that only the performing arts bring to life. .”


Morgan began dancing with Andalusia Ballet under the direction of Meryane Murphy in 2007. Morgan is the child of Huey as well as Alicia Morgan of Dozier, Alabama. After completing High School in the year 2012 he’s often performed as an instructor and guest artist in the ballet company Andalusia Ballet.


“I would not be the person currently without the support and guidance from Meryane Murphy and the entire neighborhood,” Morgan said. “Access to this incredible dance instruction in my childhood helped me follow my dreams of a performance career, and has prepared me perfectly to make the most of the opportunities available to me now to be a leading figure in the field of arts. .”

The VPAC is run by the non-profit Vail Valley Foundation, and Morgan has been part of that team since the year 2015 as an intern with Vail Dance Festival. Vail Dance Festival. Hutchinson Hutchinson, who recently married, resigned the Executive Director post to be with his spouse living in New Jersey. He will however remain involved in VPAC. VPAC with his current position as the Artistic Director.


“It is a privilege to hand over the executive direction for the Vilar Performing Arts Center to Cameron who is a seasoned arts administrator who is incredibly committed to the neighborhood,” Hutchinson said. “He has significantly improved the operation that run Vail Dance Festival.” Vail Dance Festival during the years of his involvement and brings an innovative vision to his new job. In my new position as VPAC’s Artistic Director, I am excited to take on new artistic possibilities that will attract a variety of performers to the stage in our mountains as we continue VPAC’s dedication to quality programming. .”


Morgan has had a thriving career and life on his way to becoming the VPAC Executive Director of VPAC. He was raised on his family’s cattle and chicken farming property located in Dozier, Alabama. He started his stage career as a performer in musical theatre productions when he was just seven before securing his first professional performance in the Alabama Shakespeare Festival when he was twelve. He began taking dance classes when he turned twelve years old. His passion for dancing and live performing arts brought him to the school in the University of Oklahoma, where He earned a dual degree in ballet Performance in addition to Public Relations.

After graduating from college, Morgan performed for two seasons in Rhode Island at Festival Ballet Providence (now Ballet RI) and has been able to complete three professional contracts as a performer aboard cruise ships. As a performer and artist, Cameron has a proficient understanding of the complexities that a performing arts venue has and the intricacies of live performances.


He also has a wealth of experience with the Vail Valley Foundation’s Gerald R Ford Amphitheater and Vilar Performing Arts Center. He started his career working for the VVF as an intern for the Vail Dance Festival volunteer in the summer of 2015. He was hired by in the VVF permanently in the month of January, 2021, as Festival Director in Vail Dance Festival. Vail Dance Festival. He has been an integral part of the Vail Valley Foundation operations teams for projects such as those of the GoPro Mountain Games and the Xfinity Birds of Prey ski races.
