This week this week, this week, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) will close 2023 with the start of the year-long “12 Days of Safety” Campaign to run throughout the Christmas season.
This campaign offers a lively and festive platform that aims to attract citizens and encourage Agency partners to participate in sharing safety information and tips that will ensure that Alabama’s roads are safe and fun for everyone.
“Often even the tiniest of actions can cause ripples and have an immense effect,” ALEA Secretary Hal Taylor stated. “We must all integrate safety into their plans for the holidays and spread our message, as you’re the best gift you can offer your family. Every aspect of our enforcement such as driving license check-ups as well as safety initiatives and everyday activities are designed to safeguard and protect the residents of Alabama and to ensure that everyone can return home to family members. We encourage you to participate in the Agency’s efforts and offer the gift of security this Christmas season.”
The ALEA’s “12 days of safety” will begin on Thursday the 21st of December. 21 and will conclude Monday, January. 1st 2024. In this period, the Agency will offer information and tips that help people understand unsafe driving practices and the possible consequences they can have and will particular focus on impaired and drunk driving. Based on data compiled from CAPS Center for Advanced Public Safety (CAPS) 505 crashes took place in 2022 as a result impaired driving, resulted in the loss of 260 lives within the State of Alabama. In 2023 drunk driving is a major to the cause of 4,398 traffic accidents which resulted in 154 lives lost.
Furthermore the Agency strongly suggests that everyone prepare their cars for the holidays by examining levels of antifreeze, tires as well as brakes, oil and lights, as well as hazard lights. When you face winter’s problems, preparation is vital to avoid roadside accidents and making sure that your trip remains smooth and easy. A kit for emergencies should be included in every car and should include an emergency blanket, flashlight as well as jumper cables, a cellphone chargers, and water.

These laws were put to safeguard every person who visits this state, and help decrease the number of fatalities. Seat belts and appropriate child restraints have been shown to save lives. Speeding and distracted driving are among the biggest causes of traffic accidents as well as like always the law will have a no tolerance for driving impaired.”
This year’s official travel time will again run for nine days, beginning with twelve-one a.m. Sunday the 24th of December. 24 and will end midnight on Monday, January. 1. In this period, troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol and Marine Patrol Divisions will be conducting a range of law enforcement actions, including checks for driver’s licenses and equipment to stop unsafe driving habits like driving while under the influence and driving distracted, not buckled or speeding, and driving too closely.
