Elba-based manufacturer Dorsey Trailer, has announced the promotion of long-time employees Kenneth Brooks to plant manager on the evening of Friday, December. 15.
Brooks started his stint as the plant manager interim in August. He became the Plant manager by the end of November.
“I am employed by Dorsey over the last 26 years and have met and worked with a variety of plant managers and employees,” said Dorsey Trailer president Trey Gary. “Kenneth Brooks is among the top of his crop. If ever there was a tale of persistence and perseverance this is it.”
Brooks started his work with Dorsey in the month of October 2009 as an operator on the line however, he soon moved to the position of line supervisor. After a few years of dedication as well as dedication to the job, he landed the position that of plant assistant. Gary stated that Brooks was involved in and was employed in every department of Dorsey in one way or other during his tenure and was constantly learning and expanding his knowledge throughout his career.
“When the time came to become Plant manager Kenneth did not just appear prepared, but he was up to the task and performed admirably,” Gary said.
Joseph Scott, assistant vice president at Dorsey said that he’s had the pleasure of working with a variety of people over the time at Dorsey however Kenneth is by far the most intelligent and hardworking employee he’s ever worked with.
“He is a very loyal employee who always placed Dorsey as well as its staff first,” Scott said.
Brooks also played an important part as an engineer according to Scott by assisting the department in areas that can enhance the performance and fit of Dorsey trailers. Since his appointment as the interim manager of Dorsey’s plant, he’s not only improved the quality of all aspects of manufacturing at Dorsey, but has also boosted the efficiency of making trailers, and this has been achieved at lesser man-hours than any other time in the history of the company.
Scott also said his belief that his Dorsey team has gathered around Brooks who is the plant’s new manager, and has worked as a team to apply his ideas and working ethic.
“Kenneth is a joy to work for Dorsey,” Scott said. “The laughter and laughs we’ve shared over the years create an unforgettable experience, and I feel blessed to not just work with Kenneth as well, but to be an acquaintance. I am looking forward to seeing what’s to come when we have Kenneth Brooks at the helm.”
Gary stated that Dorsey is blessed to have Brooks and that the company is eager to see what the future holds for us. He stated that some major changes will be happening in 2024 as well. Brooks will play an important role in bringing innovative concepts and machines on the floor of the plant.
“The future is very promising for Dorsey Trailer, which has Kenneth who is our Plant Manager,” Gary said. “I am looking forward to seeing him develop and leading our employees for the years to the future.”
Brooks reside in Enterprise along with his spouse, Shamika. They have three children: Kardeye, Kameron, and Kenna Brooks.
