In Juneau the month of Juneau, it is difficult to obtain healthcare quickly. up until last week just two urgent care facilities in town.


When the SouthEast Regional Health Consortium opened on Monday, they were crowded immediately.


“We aren’t even open all day and we’ve seen more than 20 patients today,” said SEARHC’s Martin Benning.


Benning said that the hospital was eager to have this urgent care facility open, as the other clinic near Twin Lakes is often full.


” style=”font-weight 400 ;”>”We started an urgent clinic in Mountainside Urgent Care two years ago, because an assessment of the needs in our communities revealed urgent care was not being served during Juneau,” he said. “And extremely quickly the facility was at capacity. .”


This new location is located on SEARHC’s campus in Mendenhall Valley, by Safeway. In January, facilities at this campus include general treatment as well as behavioral health, pediatrics as well as optometry and other services.

While SEARHC is run by Alaska Natives and operated, it has been providing services to everyone Juneau residents for several years.
