Anniston, AL –In an act of kindness and community spirit and love the local commercialist Del Marsh has gifted the Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association (NEABA) the most cherished Christmas present – the ownership of the structure that served as the home of the club for over seven years. The news was first announced on Northeast Alabama Bicycle Association’s Facebook page.

In the year 2017 Del Marsh and his wife Ginger have leased the property located on 26 West 10th Street to NEABA. In the past the time NEABA came to meet with the Marshes in search of an extension to their lease The couple opted to go further and transfer ownership of the deed of the structure that has been in existence for 113 years to the non-profit group.

Exclaiming their pleasure in contributing to the lively cyclists, Marsh declared, “Ginger and I are delighted to donate this building for the bike club to help it continue its mission of providing an amazing place for cyclists and other people to gather and meet, while also promoting cycling throughout Calhoun County and beyond.”

The old headquarters not just is home to NEABA but is also the headquarters of its sister organization which is The Anniston Runners Club. Both clubs share a purpose of creating an atmosphere of community through organizing exercise-related activities and events that ultimately improve the standard of living for the people who live in the region.

Ken Hickman, the President of NEABA He emphasized the significance of the headquarters, stating, “Our headquarters in historic downtown Anniston isn’t just a structure to the members of NEABA it’s also the the home of the local cycling community.” He further stated, “All of this would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of the former Senate President Del Marsh.”

To mark this historic celebration, a ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration are planned at the NEABA headquarters on 26 West 10th Street, Anniston, on the 23rd of January 2024 at 5 pm. Everyone is welcome to participate in the celebrations and experience the community spirit as it is displayed.
