The Cotton Street Gallery, located at the address 104 N. Cotton St. in Andalusia The gallery will be hosting a fiber art exhibit as well as demonstrations from fiber artist Ann Glick and Randy Glick January 13 through February 10.

Every weekend, these artists show gallery visitors an element that takes place, from making raw fibers, to spinning thread and yarn, creating art that can be used. On January. 13 they will show how to prepare cotton and wool bolls for spinning, which includes washing the bolls, picking them up and then carding. In January. 20 they will demonstrate a variety of spinning techniques employing different fibers. In January. 27 they will show ways to make wearable artwork with cotton thread and wool yarn. The next two weekends will be filled with fiber art classes including Randy’s renowned yarn dyeing course.

The title of the exhibition, “A Fiber Journey,” originates from the development throughout the centuries of fiber from basic to fine art and the path that fiber travels from the raw material to the finished product. “Fiber is a journey of affection that has been a journey of love for Ann as well as me.” Randy said. Randy, who knits since he was a kid and was a member of the Montana’s Circle of American Masters in Visual Folk and Traditional Arts.

In addition to the demonstrations on Saturday The gallery will also have art on display and for purchase, including felted mittens, eko shirts and silk scarves, yarn and felted handbags. Pillows and jackets as well as shawls.

The Cotton Street Gallery, which is dedicated to Southern textile artwork and artists, will open in 2022. The gallery provides textile classes as well as demonstrations to adults as well as children throughout the year.
