WEAVER 53 SAKS 50:Sophomore Aaliyah Marks was on display at the biggest stage in the county she was the top scorer with 20 points in the No. 11 seed Weaver won the game on the night of No. 6 Saks. He advance into Wednesday’s game at 3 p.m. contest against no. 3 Jacksonville.
Weaver had a lead of 28-22 at halftime. But Saks recovered and was leading 39-38 at the end of the third quarter.
Weaver returned to the lead by nine points twice during the fourth quarter, but only to watch Saks quickly get just 52-47.
A few of Marks’ layups and runouts finals assisted in helping Weaver to hold off his Wildcats off.
“We simply had to play very hard,” Marks said. “We simply needed to keep going after the game and play the game.”
Marks “played an outstanding performance,” Weaver coach Jamie Burns stated. “She’s recovering from an injury and is often injured on the field because she’s so tiny however she is determined to get after it and goes after the basket whenever she has the ball, and teams are really tough on her.”
Weaver also scored thirteen points with Erionna Richmond, and 10-points from D.J. Gibbs.
Saks centre Madison Turner led he Wildcats with 17 points. Alonna Crews scored 13 points, including a three-pointer and Jakailynn Carter sank three threes to score 11 points.
“Tough losing,” Saks coach Lamar Bradford declared. “The crucial aspect this evening was defensive vigor. It was our main goal. We needed to lock in on defensive.
“I believe we’ve rounded the corner this evening. We lost, but I think we actually won because I noticed certain things we did very well and that we must keep doing.”
JCA-FAITH BOYS
Final 1Q Faith is leading JCA 19-15. Conner Richerzhagen scored 13 points and has three 3-pointers.
Halftime: Faith leads 41-26.

Faith CHRISTIAN 70, WELLBORN The e-mail from Conner Richerzhagen played in Faith’s opening county-tourney for the season.
The newcomer had 13 points of his team’s 21 points during the first quarter, which included three 3-pointers and also No. 11 Faith was the first to lead from the start and advanced to take on No. Six Piedmont in the morning at 4:30 p.m.
Richerzhagen has been one Faith’s best offensive options throughout the season, but he destroyed Pete Mathews Coliseum in the first quarter on Saturday.
“I do not know the reason,” he said. “I enjoy playing here and during warmups I felt really good and I started to play.”
Faith also scored 15 points, with one 3-pointer, which came from Carson Harris and 12 points each by Eli Robinson and Parker Robertson.
The Lions were ahead 41-26 at halftime.
“That first period, I couldn’t have asked for superior,” Faith coach Corey Hughes stated. “We started out and took the shots we hoped to score and I think that we played a really solid defense.”
The best overall performance was JCA’s Noah Lee, who finished with a total of 32 points and 15 rebound. A quarterback with big college potential stepped out with basketball at the County’s largest stage.
“The local tournaments are an exciting event,” he said. “I enjoy it each year. I’m not thrilled with the result however it was fun to get out and play.”
JCA also scored 20 points as well as 10 rebounding by Jesse Gannaway, but depth is still a concern for a team that has 7 players in the squad.
“We’ve been struggling all year to find five players on the court who can play well together,” long-time JCA coach Tommy Miller said. “We’re simply weaker than usual this year. I think Faith did very well.. They’ve played a lot of large schools. They’ve played an excellent schedule.
“Most times it’s a game of rivalry. It’s a great game but the last year we’re just not as good as the other teams are.”
BOYS WELLBORN-OHATCHEE
The 1Q is over. Ohatchee is ahead of Wellborn 17-5.

Final: Colby Hester leads the way with 19 points and Ohatchee wins 59-31.
WELLBORN 59 OHATCHEE 31:Ohatchee’s Kyle Wilson era is half of a year old, but he’s had a significant achievement.
The rookie Ohatchee coach took home the first Calhoun County tournament game.
Colby Hester led the way with 19 points. Hester was the only player to score more than. 12 Ohatchee lead No. 13 Wellborn from tip to buzzer, while also earning the chance to take a shot at No. five White Plains on Monday at 7:15 p.m.
“It’s an enormous deal within Calhoun County,” Wilson stated. “I’m extremely happy. It’s a fantastic location. They do an excellent job. It’s top-quality, so far, from what I’ve heard and seen.”
Wilson stated that Wilson said Calhoun County tournament compares to the one he was a part of as a coach the team in Rome, Ga.
“When there was a tournament in Rome that was quite like this when I was in my teens however we weren’t able to participate on the field at Jacksonville State,” he declared. “From my experience this is a truly excellent competition, and I’m thrilled to be a part next year.”
Wilson was hired as Ohatchee’s head coach after Bryant Ginn left for alma home Alexandria Wilson, has noted improvement for Ohatchee’s Indians in the past season. Hester added that Wilson is “all full of energy.”
“He is accountable, even though he shouldn’t and is a fantastic coach for everyone,” Hester said. “He always provides us with the excitement that we require, and is an overall good leader.”
Ohatchee also received the 14-point mark also from Alston Carroll. The team also got 10 points from Jake Roberson and nine from Luke Vinson.
Avery Odom led Wellborn with 18 points and 10 points in the third quarter.
“I think the culture has influenced us a bit” the first year Wellborn head coach Todd Lumpkin said. “They came out and slapped us on the face and we sort of put down.
“All of the issues have been working on fighting, I think it’s quite evident that we could find a way to harm and attack people. But, how do we know if we’re going to be able to break through the wall?”
