After a woman was found nonresponsive, the Opp Police Department opened a murder investigation.
Officials claim that police responded to a call regarding an unresponsive female at 600 Block W. Covington Avenue on Thursday, December 22, at 3:20 PM.
Officers arrived to find Kimberly Renee Cowen (62), of Opp, deceased in a bedroom. A death investigation was launched and a warrant was issued. According to officials, drug evidence was found at the address.
To determine the cause of death, the body was taken to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
The Opp Fire Department assisted the OPD on the scene as did an officer from the Covington County district attorney’s office.
