A local couple began their new year with joy when Asia Edwards and Christopher Denson, of Opp, welcomed Christopher Denson Jr. to the world.

Christopher Denson Jr. was the first baby born at Andalusia Health in 2023 on Sunday, January 1, at 12:45 pm. According to hospital records Christopher weighed in at exactly 7 pounds and measured 20 inches in length.

“This is our first baby together, and it’s a feeling that I can’t explain. It’s an amazing feeling to have our first baby in the New Year. He wasn’t supposed be born until two weeks after now. Edwards stated that he just wanted to be here early for us.”

Christopher’s maternal grandparents were Towana Gore and Dee Edwards of Opp. His paternal grandparents were Janet Denson and Theodotes Denson from Jacksonville, Florida. Kason Denson is his older brother and he is seven months old.

She stated, “We want to continue moving forward in our life with the new addition to our family this year.”
