The Andalusia Area Chamber of Commerce is taking applications to win its year-long “Business of the Year” award. The deadline is set for January. 13, 2024.

The goal the award’s purpose is to acknowledge the companies that have exemplified the values of volunteerism, community service as well as the most exemplary traditions of corporate governance that are good. The business that is eligible must be an active Andalusia Chamber participant and in operation for at minimum three years. Businesses can nominate themselves.

Awards will be given in four categories during the Chamber’s annual banquet held in February. Small Business of the Year is awarded to companies who have fewer than nine employees. The Mid-Sized business of the year is presented to businesses with between 10 and 74 employees. Big business of the Year is awarded to businesses who have 75 or more employees. Additionally an Business of the Year Community Service Award will be awarded.

Companies will be rewarded for their accomplishments in the areas listed below:

  • Recognition of leadership and industry awards
  • The expansion of a product or building has a positive effect on businesses in the area through creating jobs, increasing sales, or increasing the appearance of the property
  • Innovation of leading-edge technology/services/products that enhance and advance business opportunities
  • Provided a dedicated service for members of the Chamber of Commerce by providing consistent participation in Chamber activities and events
  • A commitment to serving the community by providing constant support for various community projects that improve living standards within the Covington County region

Awards recipients for 2023 The following recipients of the 2023 award are:

  • The Small-Business of the Year for 2008: Draftstone Properties
  • The Mid-Sized Company of the year: Harper Electric Construction Company
  • Big Business of the Year CCB Community Bank
  • Community Service Award: Andalusia Health
