The Andalusia Adult Activity Center provided an amount of 30 small quilts as well as 20 soft animals for Covington County Department of Human Resources. Covington County Department of Human Resources Wednesday September. 6.
Adult Activity Center Program Coordinator Sonja Godwin thanked the people who made this donation happen.
“I would like to express my gratitude to those ladies who generously offered their talents and time to sew and cut the quilts and adorables (stuffed animals) which have been provided to DHR. We also thank those who donate materials and other items to create the community projects we have. Giving back and volunteering can give you a great conviction, and is a wonderful method to give back to our community and people who are in need. I’ve always heard and believe that we can rise by lifting others up,” Godwin said.
She also expressed the gratitude of the Mayor Earl Johnson and the Andalusia City Council for their assistance in the establishment of the center’s activities.
“We can provide seniors who live in Andalusia along with Covington County a great space to relax and spend an evening of quality time with those who are caring. If you or your loved one you love is feeling lonely or isolated, I urge you to visit our center and take a look at what’s provided and meet the folks who call it the home they have always wanted. I can assure you that you will be awed by our activities ranging from fitness crafting, sewing, special events, games dinner dances, and our nutrition program. My staff and myself hope to meet you in the near future.”
Covington County DHR Director Lesa Rathel was grateful for the generosity of the Adult Activity Center.
“We are extremely grateful for the encouragement and support the community members of our organization provide to our agency as well as our clients. Donations like this enable us to offer families a tangible token of appreciation which demonstrates the assistance. If a child or family is suffering and needs help, these donations provide an essential sense of comfort,” Rathel said.
