Circuit Judge Ben Bowden officially swore in William Alverson as the City of Andalusia’s new municipal judge on Friday, January 13.

Alverson replaces Mike Jones, a former municipal judge who resigned in order to take a job as Secretary of State in Montgomery. Alverson was appointed by the City Council at a Friday morning meeting.

Alverson is an Andalusia native and earned his Juris Doctorate from Georgia State University. Alverson has been active in the community since he returned home to continue his practice of law. He is currently the president of the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce, and the immediate past president for the Andalusia Rotarian Club.

Helen Anne, his wife, has two sons.
