For the second consecutive week, Andalusia exploded out to a huge advantage in the opening quarter, and then remained undefeated for the season, with a stunning 42-6 victory over Slocomb on Friday night.

The highest-ranked Bulldogs continue their unbeaten streak and improve to 8-0 overall, and 5-0 in the 4A region 2. Red Tops Red Tops dropped to 1-6 and have not won against region opponents with a record of 5-5.

J’Marion Burnette started the scoring by scoring a touchdown of 55 yards in the first quarter. Cobb Stewart added the PAT to give the team a 7-0 advantage just 29 second into the game. Burnette was able to follow up by running 42 yards for a touchdown at 5:38 and Stewart’s point following took an advantage to 14-0. Jack Lathrop connected with Tyler Sigers on an interception of 33 yards for an advantage of 21-0 with 11:30 left. Andalusia completed its offensive rout by scoring a third touchdown. Burnette scored three touchdowns in the quarter in the closing game during the third quarter. The touchdown was scored at 34 yards, as Stewart’s fourth kickoff gave them an impressive 28-0 lead following one.

Lathrop took to the air once more and was able to find Jordan Stallworth open on a 27-yard touchdown pass. Stewart scored the point with 9:05 remaining until halftime. The score was still 35-0 heading into the break. Jordyn Skanes scored a three-yard touchdown jog with 6:23 remaining at the end of third. Logan Reeves tacked on the point to take an advantage of 42-0. Slocomb was able to stop the shutout effort by throwing a touchdown pass of 84 yards in the fourth period. Nick Appleyard blocked the PAT attempt.

Lathrop had a 3-of-5 performance for the 77-yards and two touchdowns during the win. Noah Curry went 2-of-3 and added 27 yards in passing. Burnette was a dominant ground game, and was the leader of the attack, with six runs, resulting in 3 touchdowns and 167 yards. Zerrick Jones also had five carries, resulting in 46 yards, and Skanes was able to run three times as well as 24 yards. Curry as well as Pickle Calloway finished the rush with eight and 14 yards, respectively.

Sigers lead the receiving department in receiving yards, racking up 33 and a touchdown. Stallworth followed with 27 yards, then Kal Crittenden who made an impressive 17-yard catch. Brunson Wilson had a catch with 15 yards, while Elijah Bradley had a reception for 12 yards.

Xavier Marshall, Landon Caldwell, Riley Tucker, and Will Dalton paced the defensive effort with each having three tackles during the victory.

The Bulldogs will return to home for the last game of their regular season against B.T. Washington (5-2 4-1) on Friday, October. 20.
