Andalusia High School hosted the Park Crossing Thunderbirds Friday night and both the boys’ and girls teams losing to the opponent in 6A.

Tariah Magee pushed her team Lady Thunderbirds to a fast start by scoring three three-pointers during the opening quarter. Andalusia girls were trailing 16-6 in the first quarter. Kamari Gay and Kionni Wright, and Jaidyn Berry each scored basketballs to help the Lady Bulldogs early.
Kelsie Horwath was leading in the Lady Bulldogs with three points in the second quarter, and each of Gay and Wright having a bucket each. However, Maliyah Meeks hit eight points during the game for the T-birds, as Park Crossing increased their lead to 27-13 at halftime.
Berry was the top scorer for the Lady Bulldogs in the third period with four points, while Gay, Wright, and Taya Newton all scored points at shooting free-throws. Park Crossing was able to keep pace with Andalusia in the third period as Aminata Falls hit two three-pointers and Meeks added seven points to her points total. They improved their lead to 43-21.
The Lady Bulldogs added 10 points in the final quarter, compared to Park Crossing’s three points, to bring the final score to 46-31.
Berry was the top scorer for her team of Lady Bulldogs with 10 points during the contest. Wright was averaging the score of eight, Gay had seven and Horwath scored five points.

Andalusia took an early advantage in the contest against Thunderbirds at the start of their boys’ match however, a dominant third quarter brought the game back to square when Park Crossing finished with a win, 67-58.
Six different Bulldogs contributed points in the opening period which included a three-pointer from Tevin Sigers. Andalusia led 13-12 in the opening period. Andalusia increased its advantage in the second quarter with a third three-pointer scored by Sigers as well as another shot from the brother of Tyler Sigers. Kam Weaver scored two points in the second half as the Bulldogs entered the break with a 29-21 advantage.
Park Crossing figured out the Andalusia defense and then came out on top in the third quarter, edging Andalusia 26-11 in the second half. Jayden Scott who scored just one basket in the first period for the T-birds scored 14 points in the final period, and Jacan Johnson scored two three-pointers for the guests. Noah Curry’s three-pointers, coupled with six free throws, kept Andalusia in the game into the final quarter with the score at 47-40.
Both teams scored 14 points during the final period, with Tyler Sigers leading the Bulldogs by scoring eight in the final quarter.
The leader of for the Bulldogs in scoring was Tyler Sigers with 16 points. Weaver ended playing with ten points. Nashaun Wilson had seven points. Tevin Sigers added six points.
Andalusia will play against area rival Slocomb on Wednesday on Jan. 10 with girls beginning around four p.m. and the boys scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.
