The Andalusia-Sonic-Drive In restaurant underwent a major renovation that included many cosmetic changes, including the most important: a twin drive-through.
Sonic, Andalusia’s new drive-through space
Sonic was closed Nov. 2, the day after construction began on the property.
“We added a twin drive-thru and made some improvements to the outside and interior of our facility. The outside has a brand new design. We have also installed new flooring and a ceiling with LED lighting. The new drive-thru will be equipped with everything it needs, including a drink machine and slush machine. There are three ice cream machines in our existing establishment, but the new drive-thru will be able to make both soft-serve and shakes. “Our drive-thru will have an ice cream station that can do everything,” stated George Momenpour, Andalusia Franchisee/Owner.
To offer customers who place smaller orders more efficient service, an exit door was installed near the drive-thru.
Our carhops will deliver it if the first car in the drive-thru is carrying four chicken dinners, five hamburgers or other large orders, and any cars following them have small orders. You won’t even have to wait for them to ‘hop it’ to you. Our drive-thru also has a card reader so that our customers don’t have to bring their cards into the store. Two drive-thru areas are available, similar to those at (other ).”
Customers will also notice a modernized patio area with new seating, and an exterior that is more modern. “We got rid all our picnic tables and replaced them with new tables. In January, we will be installing new LED lighting and updating signage. Sonic will have a new look in January. He said that although he wasn’t obliged to, he thought it would be a great upgrade and convenience for guests.”
Momenpour is the owner of the Andalusia Sonic since June 1989. He referred to the QSR for restaurants as the reason behind the drive-thru.
It will show you that 70% of guests would rather go to a drive through. Three of the four Florida restaurants I owned had a drive-thru. These were a huge advantage and we did a lot more business. We should have another one for our guests. I was also part the first ever drive-thru built by Sonic in Shreveport Louisiana span>
He stated that there were 27 stalls available for customers to place orders prior to the renovations. The drive-thru addition will reduce that number to just 14 stalls. “One side will only be drive-in and the other drive-thru. Parallel parking will be added to the building to accommodate our guests who use the patio span>
The restaurant was also renovated in 2000, 2008, and 1990. Momenpour believes that the drive-thru is a great addition to the restaurant.
“There will be two ordering stations where guests can tell us what they want before coming to our drive-thru window.” The screen will show their order for them to see before they go to the drive-thru window span>
The restaurant is expected to reopen this week. Any setbacks will be moved to a later date if necessary. “We prefer to wait until we have 100 percent before opening. It would be a hassle for our guests if we opened only our stalls, not the drive-thru. It would be better to have everything ready for use. He said that we can do it without any updated signs or small items inside.
Momenpour says that the new drive-thru addition to Andalusia will create approximately 14 additional jobs. We will create approximately 14 additional positions. Our carhops will learn to accept orders and work in the drive-thru span>
Sonic Drive In is located at 306 East Three Notch Street, downtown Andalusia. You can reach them at 334-222-1443.
“Sonic has been loyal for many years to our guests in Andalusia. We are excited about the changes that we are making and hope to share them with our guests and customers. Every time a new piece comes out, I will make sure that my guests are able to benefit from it. Momenpour stated that they are looking forward to continuing doing business the same way as before and seeing how the new drive-thru will perform.
