Andalusia was able to improve in area play Friday night, when both the boys’ and girls’ teams won over Dale County.

The Lady Bulldogs quickly took a huge lead over the Dale County Lady Warriors, and they won 54-17.

Andalusia’s pace was set early by Dianna-Grace Nelson, who scored a few baskets and a three-pointer. After the first period, the Lady Bulldogs led 19-6 with four points from Jaidy Berry (four each) and Kamari Gray (four).

Nelson scored six more points in the second quarter, with Zaniya and Anderson scoring four each. The defense was strong with the Lady Bulldogs allowing only two free throws. Andalusia led 37-8 at halftime.

The Lady Bulldogs won the third period with six points from Kionni Wright. Khayria Reynolds was second with four points in the fourth.

Nelson was the Lady Bulldogs’ top scorer with 11 points, while Berry, Anderson and Wright had each eight.

Although the Bulldogs led early, Dale County came back to make it interesting. The Bulldogs won the area title 73-67.

Tevin Sigers and Tyler Sigers both made three-pointers as the Bulldogs led by 20-9 after just one period.

The Bulldogs’ pace was set in the second quarter by Cammeyun Love, Cadariyus Love, and a total of three three-pointers. Christian Sheridan scored five more in that period. Dale County scored 26 points in the second half to reduce Andalusia’s lead to five at the break, 40-35.

Andalusia’s lead was eight at the end of the third quarter, thanks to Tyler Sigers’ nine point performance.

Although the Warriors were only three points behind at the end, the Bulldogs scored 14 points to win the game 74-67.

Tyler Sigers was the Bulldogs’ leader with 19 points, while Cadariyus love finished with 13.

Monday’s visit to Montgomery saw the Bulldogs lose to Brewbaker Tech at Park Crossing MLK Classic by 47 to 45.

The Bulldogs are 7-10 overall, and 3-0 in their area play.

Slocomb will be joining Andalusia for a second area matchup on Friday 20 January. The JV team will play at 4:30 p.m. followed by the girls’ and boy’s varsity teams.
