Andalusia defeated Red Level, 66-56, in a top ten match on The second and final day of the Richard Robertson’s Annual Andalusia Christmas Tournament on Thursday, December. 14.

The Bulldogs played as the team that traveled to the game in tenth place in the Class 4A section of the state rankings that were first published yesterday. The Tigers were with the rank of eighth in Class 1A.

Dominic Williams Jr. gave Red Level a quick 3-0 lead however, Tevin Sigers followed and tied the score at 3-3 at 6:04 into the period. When Jordan Stallworth converted two free throws, Buddy Griffin buried a three to take a lead of 6-5. A three by Tevin Sigers, and a jumper from Stallworth led to the lead changing to the other side when the score was lowered to 10-6. Javen Poindexter broke a 10-ten tie at 3:17 and Jamari Brown scored an extra bucket to give the team a 12-10 advantage. Andalusia was leading by 16-12 in the opening period due to four points from Stallworth and two points from Nashaun Wilson.

Noah Curry and Tyler Sigers scored threes, and Cadariyus Love scored the basket to take a lead of 24-12 at the end of the 2nd. Williams completed the scoring by making a smart play to the hoops while Junior Mayes made a bucket for the Tigers. Curry and Stallworth followed with a pair of threes to give the team a lead of 30-16 at the 4:09 mark. Poindexter scored a dunk, and Stallworth was able to score five points in the following five minutes and extended his lead by 37-20 at 1:44 remaining in the first half. Mayes also scored in a short break however Love, Tyler Sigers, and Stallworth each scored a bucket, and lifted their Bulldogs to a lead of 43-22 at halftime.

Red Level came out firing with a 23-point performance at the end of third. Poindexter recorded 17 points during the game while Williams, Griffin, and Justin Patterson each earned two. Curry as well as Tevin Sigers each scored three points and were then followed by Stallworth and Wilson with two points each. Jaquez McMeans scored two points on the line. Poindexter ended his 10-point run with a dunk and cut the deficit to 49-43 at 1:44 mark. Andalusia responded by scoring five points, and extending the lead up to 54-45 at three.

Poindexter opened the fourth quarter with a three, but McMeans was able to get off the ball for two. Patterson scored four of the following six points and narrowed the deficit to 58-54, with just 4:38 left during the contest. After Tevin Sigers scored two points at the line, Patterson drilled an open jumper to reduce the gap to 60-56. Then the Bulldogs were in control and took revenge on their loss in the tournament to Tigers earlier in the year. McMeans was the only field goal, as Stallworth, Curry, and the Sigers twins put together 4 free-throws.

Stallworth led Andalusia (5-1) by scoring 23 points. Curry as well as Tevin Sigers contributed 10-point performances, both with double figures. Tyler Sigers and Love notched seven points each in the victory.

Poindexter had 32 points to lead Red Level (4-3) and was the top scorer during the contest. Williams and Patterson were next with 7 and 6 points respectively. Griffin was able to match his jersey number of five during the defeat.

Both teams play on the 15th of December. 15. The Tigers take on Opp (1-8) in the 3:30 p.m. time slot. 3:00 p.m. in an extra game. The Bulldogs take on Straughn (5-5) during the semi-finals of tournament play at 7:45 p.m.
