This week will be an active week in Andalusia since the holiday season kicks off with numerous events scheduled throughout the week beginning with the most-loved Christmas holiday in Candyland.
The week will begin with a Christmas concert and tree lighting ceremony at LBW Community College on Tuesday on November. 28 from 5:30 until 7 p.m. The special performances include those from the LBW Ensemble, Andalusia Elementary School Show Choir, Covington County Choral Company as well as The Lower Alabama Community Choir.
The fun of the holiday season continues as the Andalusia Chamber of Commerce will hold their annually held Christmas Parade on Thursday, November. 30 around 6 p.m. Its theme this year is “It’s the season of the Candyland Christmas.”
The first weekend in December is a very full of events with many events for the community to be scheduled.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Friday, December. 1st, 9 a.m. on the square to mark the 10th anniversary celebration of Candyland’s Christmas. Candyland. Candyland is open daily from 5 until 7 p.m. and will host an Meet Mickey and Minnie event between 5 and seven p.m. Live music will start around seven p.m. at the Candyland stage in Springdale.
The first night of Candyland will be on Saturday Dec. 2 from noon until 9 p.m. Keep a watch to see the Grinch. Meet and greets are planned between 1 and 4. p.m. to Santa and from 4 to six p.m. to Elsa. An Characters in Candyland show is scheduled at 6 p.m.
Candyland opens on Sunday December. 3 from 1-5 p.m. The Meet and Greet with Santa will be held from between 2 and 5 p.m. A Meet and Greet with Elsa is scheduled from between 2 and 4 p.m. There will be a performance by the AES Show Choir performs at 3 p.m. and will be followed by an Characters in Candyland show at 4 p.m.
The First Baptist Church of Andalusia will hold the “Evening in Bethlehem” drive-through Nativity on Dec. 1 on a Saturday Dec. 2, and on Sunday Dec. 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. each night. For more information, call the church at 334-222-5151.
The Little Britches Rodeo will take place at the Covington Arena on the weekend of Saturday, Dec. 2 and on Sunday December. 3. The entry fee is not charged.
The Pilot Club in Andalusia will host their annually held Pancake and Sausage Breakfast on Saturday, December. 2 at 5 a.m. till noon, at Kiwanis Community Center. Tickets cost $10 each for all-you can-eat meals per person. Tickets can be purchased at the door or through CCB Community Bank, Andalusia Chamber, or by contacting anyone Pilot Club member. Annual Pilot Club Tour of Homes event will be held on the Sunday of December. 3 from 1 until 4:00 p.m. and there will be five properties included in this year’s list. Tickets cost $15 and can be purchased through CCB Community Bank or the Andalusia Chamber. The ticket holders will receive refreshments at Blue Bird Coffee Company. Blue Bird Coffee Company.
