The Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals has affirmed the convictions of William Rodeshia Stoutamire, 27 from Samson and was found guilty of attempted murder. Stoutamire was found guilty by Covington County Circuit Court on May 20, 2022. Covington County Circuit Court the 20th of May in 2022.
The evidence in the trial revealed that on the 28th of August 2020, the victim travelled across the state of Montgomery towards Opp to meet an individual with whom he had two children. The victim was reportedly angry because his girlfriend was no longer messaging him. When the victim arrived at his residence, he began to argue with his former partner. In order to calm the incident, the victim placed his gun in his vehicle and locked it. At the moment, Stoutamire began shooting at the victim, who fled the scene. He did not stop until the victim was killed six times. Police later found that Stoutamire fired eight shots at the victim and also his automobile.
Covington County district attorney Walt Merrell’s office handled the case and secured an indictment of guilty. Stoutamire received a term of 30 years in prison. Stoutamire was seeking to reverse his conviction through appeal.
The attorney general’s Criminal Appeals Division handled the appeals process. They argued in that the Alabama Court of Criminal Appeals to uphold the conviction of Stoutamire. The Court was able to do so in a ruling issued on the 11th of August, Friday.
Attorney General Marshall has praised the Assistant Attorney General Jordan Shelton for her successful work in this case. She also acknowledges District Attorney Walt Merrell and his staff for their support in defending the attempt murder case.
