At its first meeting of 2018, the Covington County Board of Education voted on 12 personnel matters.


The board approved:

Leave Of Absence:


  • Terri L. Norris was granted a medical leave of absence and benefits under the Family Medical Leave Act retroactively for the month December to her job as a bus driver at Fleeta Junior High School.
  • Madison Griffin, an elementary teacher at Straughn Elementary School, was granted a medical leave of absence and benefits under the Family Medical Leave Act retroactive to December.

Resignation:


  • Tracie Dye was the bus driver/custodian of Pleasant Home School, retroactively to Dec. 31
  • Hayden Raines is a Red Level School JAG paraprofessional retroactive to Dec. 31
  • Brook E. Centner, pre-K teacher at RLS retroactively to Dec. 31
  • Auburn Ward Carrier is now a pre-K teacher at SES, effective January 18
  • Gary Ben Martin, Straughn Middle School special education teacher retroactive to December 31
  • Madison McCormick is a paraprofessional at W.S. Harlan Elementary School retroactively to Dec. 31

Employment:


  • Dawn Elizabeth Smith is now the bus driver/custodian for PHS. This position will be in effect immediately, subject to verification of any background checks.
  • Kristy Lord is now a JAG paraprofessional at RLS, subject to verification of background checks.
  • Kayla W. Stovall is now the pre-K teacher at SES. This appointment is subject to verification of any background checks.
  • Madison McCormick is now a special education teacher at WSH. This appointment will be effective immediately, subject to verification of any background checks.


In another business:


  • Superintendent Shannon Driver issued certificates of affirmation to Jeff Bailey and James Barton who were not challenged in the 2022 election. Bailey currently serves as president and Barton as vice president.
  • Ressie Gray, Chief School Finance Officer, presented the board with financial reports for November 2022 that were reconciled to the most recent bank statements.


The board has set Tuesday, February 7, 2005 at 5:30 pm at the central office.
