The Covington County Recreation Board unanimously voted to approve Daniel Rodgers as its new boy’s baseball president at an assembly held on the Saturday of January. 6.

Rodgers will be in charge of the entire baseball operation of Covington County’s Youth Rec League, which comprises players aged 5 through 16.

“Some of my most memorable memories as a child were playing with Covington County’s baseball. I am grateful that rec league baseball is available since it allows kids to play teams, develop relationships and gain valuable knowledge. I am thrilled about this chance because, most importantly, my children participate and I am awed by being a part of what my children participate in. I’m hoping to continue the rich tradition Covington County Baseball has established for itself,” Rodgers said.

Chairperson of Board Jed Blackwell praised Rodgers’ dedication to the organization and praised him for his decision to take the job.

“Daniel is a well-known, highly respected and hardworking man who is well-qualified to run our baseball team today and in the future. Many people have recommended Daniel for the position. We’re grateful to him for accepting this job and for his determination to assist our young people in our communities,” Blackwell said.

Rodgers is currently his assistant principal in Straughn Elementary School as well as Straughn Middle School. Rodgers and spouse Danielle Rodgers are the parents of four sons: Terry, Rayden, Jones and Joel.

In addition the board also has appointed Matt Moore as the Pleasant Home baseball liaison, Derek Williamson as the Red Level baseball liaison, and Jerrica Copeland as the Red Level softball liaison. The positions that are appointed by Covington County Recreation Board Covington County Recreation Board are available to the community by volunteering.

Covington County baseball and softball will be holding sign-ups for the year 2024 at Pleasant Home School, Red Level School, Straughn Elementary School, Straughn Middle School along with Straughn High School beginning Monday the 29th of January. 29. The registration period will last two weeks through Friday, February. 9.

“I feel humbled and grateful of the Mr. Jed Blackwell and the Covington County Rec Board for providing me with this chance to serve our community,”” Rodgers said.
