The family of Virginia has expressed their gratitude towards the “angel” who helped them after their car broke down in Covington County, Virginia.
Sheriff’s Office of Covington County, Sgt. Jerry Fields — who is school resource officer for the Florala as well as Lockhart schools He was on a regular patrol on the 31st of July as a family who was returning to Virginia after a vacation in Destin was stranded along AL Hwy. 137, with their car and a 37-foot travel trailer. The family didn’t have cellphone service, however they were able to dial 911. Sgt. Fields was sent to the scene and assisted the family members get back to their vehicle.
A letter sent to the sheriff’s department stated: “Sgt Fields calmed me down and was by our assistance as we attempted to make sense of our situation. When our trailer and the truck were being tow by the sheriff’s office, he took me and my kids to a park in the state where we could stay safe as repairs were completed on our truck. He always said”It’s just his job but for my eyes, it was much more than the fact that he was doing his job! He is truly an angel disguised and I will never forget for our meeting on that day. .”
Sheriff Blake Turman added, “We are very proud to have Sergeant. Fields in the CCSO. This is only one instance of how he performs his job by providing amazing service to the county. .”
