Florala Fire Department Florala Fire Department recently received a grant of $36,130 from Firehouse Subs’ Public Safety Foundation for the purchase of an all-new Rescue One boat.

According to officials from officials from the Florala Fire Department, the boat will fill a vital requirement in the city and county.

“Thank for the Foundation and the Local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Andalusia and to the kind donors who have provided your assistance. Thanks to our Rescue One Boat, we can assist Florala’s City of Florala with the high number of boaters and tourists that visit our beautiful Lake Jackson. We can be on standby for Military Rangers training, boat racing, and other. We’ll be able to assist Covington County in the event of Search and Rescue on any bodies of water within the county. In the absence of Firehouse Subs and the Firehouse Public Safety Foundation without which all of this wouldn’t be feasible,” a Florala Fire Department statement said.

The department also acknowledged Jeff McVay from Coastal Resolution and Brandon Holland for JB Signs and Designs for their contribution.

Toka Jackson thanked Firehouse Subs customers for rounding up their tickets and donating to the foundation.

“This is what your contributions have done for the local community within Covington County. This would not be possible without the help of everyone. We are extremely grateful to be a part an amazing group of people,” Jackson said.

Firehouse Subs’ Public Safety Foundation is an non-profit 501(c)(3) organisation. It was established in 2005 following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina during which Firehouse Subs founders Chris Sorensen and Robin Sorensen traveled to Mississippi and fed first responders as well as survivors.

The foundation provides funding for areas like lifesaving equipment and prevention education, as well as ongoing education and scholarships in disaster relief, as well as assistance for those in the military.
