More than 450 fourth-grade students as well as teachers, and more than 40 volunteers were gathered on the Woodson Learning Center in Andalusia for the 2023 Covington County Groundwater Festival.

Students were greeted by the characters Sammy Soil and Ruby Raindrop.

The City of Andalusia Ambassadors lead students from one place to another location where they made bracelets to understand the water cycle as well as exploring the enviroscape in order to find out more about groundwater and creating a delicious treat to understand the aquifers.

The fourth graders in each class took part in a t-shirt design contest. One of the winners was Gentri Barnes of Straughn Elementary School. Each participant received the t-shirt they wore during the competition.

The organizers expressed their gratitude towards Covington County Cattlemen’s Association for providing lunch. Covington County Cattlemen’s Association , for offering lunch to volunteers and to all event volunteers and sponsors for making an enjoyable and productive day for students.
