Gary Wayne Jones, age 73, of Andalusia died in the month of December. 8th, 2023 at the Opp Nursing Facility.

The Celebration of Life service will be announced at a later time. Keahey Funeral Home has been appointed in the preparation of arrangements. The last to be remembered is his beloved partner of 23 years Terry Ann Jones of Andalusia as well as his three sons: Jeremiah Jones of Nashville, Tennessee; Matthew Jones of Texas and Joshua Jones of Nashville; brothers, Kenneth Jones (Jo) of Nashville; Ronnie Jones of Waverly, Tennessee; grandchild, Aryan Jones (Emma) Great-grandchild Delilah Jones; stepchildren, Deanna Hamm (Johnny); Zachary Parkin and Christopher Parkin (Lisa) all from Andalusia. He was preceded by his dad, Hardy Bell Jones, sister, Betty Sue Jones, and step-son, Travis Dean Rice.

Gary Wayne was a native of Nashville and was in the Marine Corp. for five years. Gary Wayne was stationed at Japan throughout the Vietnam War and was one who was the one to give that last “OK” that the plane was now ready for flight. He was also a pilot for the Blue Angels Planes. In his time in the military He was introduced to the president Ronald Reagan and thanked for his contribution to the country.

Gary Wayne was a self-taught master woodworker. In Nashville Wayne built complete log cabins for the most prominent home owners in Tennessee. Two houses he constructed with log cabin work for were owned by Dolly Parton and George Jones. He and his brother built custom cabinets. The man was also a skilled musician and, while working at the houses of Dolly Parton and George Jones The majority of musicians took the time to sit and enjoy some “picking and smiling” along with Gary Wayne. Gary Wayne will be missed greatly.
